Third Trunk or Treat planned at Pine Grove

"It's fun," exclaimed Jaiden Brandt, associate pastor of ministries with Pine Grove Church, of the Trunk or Treat event that the church has held annually since 2021. "People come in and register, and then they funnel through all the trunks," Brandt said, adding that in the parking lot, attendees enjoy entertainment, and free food before heading home. "The point of the event is to engage with our community."

This year's Trunk or Treat will involve more than 20 trunks lined up in the church parking lot at 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville, on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendees are welcome to wear costumes to the Trunk or Treat.

Among the trunk decoration themes will be Noah's Ark, camping, gnomes and fairies, ponies, the color pink, superheroes, and "God Is Groovy." Brandt also described a farm-themed trunk that will include live chickens.

Live entertainment will be provided by the local juggling duo known as The DKers. Yard games, including sack races and a game involving balloons, will be set up to enjoy. "(The games) are very popular," noted Brandt. "We will have hayrides, and a barrel train will be on site to give rides."

Free food items that visitors may enjoy will be hot dogs, nachos, apples, and popcorn. "(Attendees) get plenty of candy from the trunks, so we don't offer dessert," said Brandt with a chuckle.

Brandt noted that the two-hour event brings a total of about 800 people to the location with nearly 150 of those being Pine Grove volunteers. Brandt emphasized that the event is positive and family oriented. "We enjoy bringing the community together for lots of fun fall activities in a safe environment," he said.
