Touch-A-Truck Food Drive Set

Collection efforts have kicked off for the Touch-A-Truck Food Drive that will take place at The Market at Oregon Dairy, 2900 Oregon Pike, Lititz, on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In partnership with the Manheim Township and West Earl police and fire departments, Oregon Dairy will collect nonperishable foods with the goal of filling a tractor trailer to donate to three local nonprofit organizations: Power Packs Project, Arch Street Center, and Blessings of Hope.

Visitors to Oregon Dairy who bring canned goods or other nonperishable food items or make a donation to the food drive on Oct. 22 will receive a discount on admission to the "Thank-A-Trucker" Corn Maze.

Collection bins have been placed at several locations, including West Earl Township Police Department, located in West Earl Township Municipal Building; the Akron Borough Office; West Earl Fire Company; Manheim Township Police Department; Southern Manheim Township Fire Company; Eden Fire Company; Neffsville Fire Company; Richmond Square Fire Station; and The Market at Oregon Dairy.

A friendly competition will go on between the Manheim Township and West Earl police departments to see who can collect the most food by Thursday, Oct. 20. The chief of the department that collects the lesser amount of food will make a video wearing a cow hat while paying compliments to the winning chief.
