Training to focus on drug trends

GOAL Project will hold a Drug Trends Training on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Liberty Place, Suite 273, 355 Liberty St., Lancaster, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will learn about current drug trends as well as these substances' addiction potential, purity and perceived level of harm. Topics will also include factors related to substance experimentation, use and abuse across the adolescent and transition ages. Attendees will learn how drugs can impact the developing brains of those ages 12 to 21.

Those attending the seminar may include health professionals, representatives of faith-based organizations, members of family service organizations, counselors, community liaisons and parents.

The presenter, David Fialko, is an internationally certified prevention specialist, a nationally certified tobacco treatment specialist and a veteran of the Air Force. He holds a bachelor's degree in science from Colorado State University. Fialko has more than 20 years of experience working in the field of addiction sciences. He is employed by The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania Inc., where he provides counseling and intervention programs for Bucks County students, tobacco cessation programs for adults and prevention education for communities and public health providers. He also presents lectures throughout Pennsylvania and beyond.
