Troop 66 Scout Achieves Eagle Rank

Austin Chase Little, of Boy Scout Troop 66, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He will be honored at a Court of Honor once the pandemic lessens. Austin is the son of Dawn and Ryan Little of Conewago Township.

An Eagle Scout must have completed at least 21 merit badges and shown leadership by planning, developing, and completing a community project. Austin earned a total of 34 merit badges, and he built and installed birdhouses, duck boxes, bird feeders and bat houses at the H.M. Levitz Memorial Park in Grantville for his Eagle Scout project.

Austin joined Cub Scout Pack 98 of Conewago Township at age 6 and later earned Cub Scouting's highest award, the Arrow of Light. A member of Troop 66 since 2015, he served in the capacity of assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, and librarian. He has also been awarded membership in the Order of the Arrow (OA), Scouting's national honor society, and is a Brotherhood member of the Sasquesahanough Lodge in the New Birth of Freedom Council. In August of 2018, Austin attended National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at the J. Edward Mack Scout Reservation in Newmanstown. The United Church of Christ in Hummelstown sponsors Troop 66.

Austin is a senior at Lower Dauphin High School, where he has been a four-year member of the school's lacrosse team. He also is a member of the National Honor Society, Class Council, and the Envirothon team. Austin is a member of Grace United Methodist Church and volunteers at several community service activities.
