Troop 83's Flower Sale To Feature Virtual Format

Members of Scouts BSA Troop 83, Lionville, have organized a new virtual shopping format for their traditional Easter flower sale. The flower sale, the troop's only fundraiser, had to be canceled for the first time in 40 years in 2020 due to the pandemic. Organizers felt this year's virtual format could safely follow the state and county health department guidelines.

The new virtual format offers many of the same items, including Easter lilies, spring-flowering bulbs, and summer annual flowers, which may be ordered at http://www.troop83flowersale.com. Troop parents and Scouts are also continuing the tradition of making gift baskets that include an assortment of flowers. The troop typically sells more than 200 gift baskets. This year, gift baskets will be offered in three sizes with two themes: spring bulbs and summer annuals. An herb basket will also be available.

Curbside pickup will safely allow customers to get their orders. The troop plans a soft close for orders on Tuesday, March 23, but orders will still be accepted until Friday, March 26, based on plant availability.

Orders may be picked up at the troop's sponsor, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 101 Worthington Road, Exton, on Friday, April 2, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Proceeds will help maintain and purchase new camping gear, offset the cost of Scout trips, and support Scouts pursuing leadership and skills training. The troop is also saving to replace its aging troop trailer.

Troop 83 is celebrating its 70th year of service to the community and is sponsored by St. Paul's UCC through the Chester County Council Boy Scouts of America (www.cccbsa), Horseshoe Trail District.
