Tune In For A Concert

Beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, about 80 choir students from Solanco, Lampeter-Strasburg, and Penn Manor high schools will perform in the Spring Fling Concert at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church (CLPC), 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville. Erik Welchans, music director at Lampeter-Strasburg High School and CLPC, will direct the concert while Janet Braightmeyer, Solanco High School music teacher and CLPC organist, will perform selections on the brand-new organ.

The concert will be followed by a specialty dessert bar and live and silent auctions in the church's Family Life Center building, which is located across the street from CLPC. Some of the items that will be featured in the silent and live auctions include a Coach tote bag, a Barnstormers package, Fulton Theatre tickets, American Music Theatre tickets, a handmade quilt, Longwood Gardens tickets, a spring flower planter, and artwork.

"Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church is a talented and faithful congregation that believes in sharing its time, talents, and resources as gifts to be used in this world," stated CLPC senior pastor John Hartman. "Our Spring Fling is just one example of putting our hearts, voices, hands, and feet to our faith."

Proceeds from this event will benefit CLPC's "Restore His House" capital campaign for the newly renovated sanctuary, which was built in the 1700s by a group of Christians who came together for worship, music, fellowship, and growth in their knowledge and love of God. Notable changes to the church include the newly exposed balcony, two fieldstone additions on either side of the bell tower, the restored ceiling with gold leaf details, the restored antique German stained-glass windows, and the refurbished wooden pews, dating to circa 1914. Renovations took about a year and a half to complete.

"God calls us to do great things for His glory, and it has been a privilege to have been raised in this church where generations have shared in the responsibility of its upkeep, and, most recently, the restoration," said Lauren Musser, event planner and capital campaign co-chair.

"We're excited to bring the community together and share the talents of the local school districts," commented capital campaign committee co-chair Brian Musser.

Tickets for this event are limited and can be purchased by calling 717-548-2763. For more information about CLPC, visit http://www.chestnutlevel.org.
