Twin Valley Mini-THON Club To Host Holiday Sale

Members of the Mini-THON club at Twin Valley High School (TVHS) will present a holiday vendor sale on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Offered for sale will be crafts, holiday decor and goods from home-based businesses. Santa Claus will also make an appearance. Proceeds will benefit Four Diamonds, a nonprofit organization with the goal of conquering childhood cancer.

The second annual event will be held in the TVHS cafeteria. "Last year we had 40 vendors and this year we already have over 50," noted Maddie Morgan, the fundraising overall at TVHS, as well as a member of the Four Diamonds Mini-THON Student Leadership Council. "It's a great way to get your holiday shopping done," she said.

A variety of vendors will be on hand, many offering homemade crafts. "People will sell candles and wreaths, jewelry, herbal teas and crocheted items, and there will be some (home-based businesses) like Mary Kay and Tastefully Simple," said Maddie. "(Vendors) pay a registration fee to get a table. Some sign up for two tables."

Santa Claus will be at the vendor sale from noon to 2 p.m. "Kids will be able to sit on Santa's lap for pictures. We will take the photos and (print them on-site) and also send them digitally," noted Maddie. A nominal fee will be charged for the photos.

Members of the Mini-THON club will sell refreshments, and they will also greet and assist vendors. Proceeds from the food sales and vendor registration fees will go to Four Diamonds. Donation containers for the charity will be set up around the sale, and there will be an informational booth about the organization.

"We will have a tri-fold setup. All of our fundraising totals will be up there, and we will explain what Four Diamonds is and (their efforts) to combat pediatric cancer," said Maddie.

There are still a few vendor spots available. A link to register can be found at http://www.facebook.com/TVHSminithon in a post dated Nov. 1.

The goal of the TVHS Mini-THON club is to raise funds for Four Diamonds. The main fundraiser of the student-run club is its Mini-THON, which is a dance marathon modeled after the Penn State THON that raises money for families with children being treated for cancer at Penn State Children's Hospital.

Last year, Maddie was the top fundraiser in the club, raising $2,458. As the 2021-22 fundraising overall, Maddie is now in charge of creating, setting up and seeing through all of the club's fundraising events throughout the school year.

In her role on the Leadership Council, Maddie serves as an advocate and leader for Four Diamonds and Mini-THON and will be one of the representatives for the more than 90,000 students who are part of the organization.

Twin Valley High School is located at 4897 Twin Valley Road, Elverson. Those who attend the vendor sale are asked to enter the TVHS lobby doors to access the cafeteria. For more information, visit the aforementioned website.
