Uncharted Lancaster sets treasure hunt

The Uncharted Lancaster treasure hunt is back for its fifth and final year with Buzzard's Booty: Quest for the Lost JBT Treasure from Saturday, April 12, to Saturday, May 10. Every Saturday at 10 a.m., a new set of challenges will be posted at http://unchartedlancaster.com.

Inspired by "The Goonies," this year's hunt will introduce new game mechanics and two competition tiers to ensure that treasure hunters of all skill levels can join the chase. The professional tier is for previous winners and other players with experience, while the amateur tier is for new and casual players.

The quest centers on the mysterious globus cruciger, a legendary artifact once linked to the infamous outlaws the Buzzard Gang. Teams will embark on a journey across Lancaster County and beyond, solving puzzles and piecing together clues.

The first- through third-place and honorable mention teams in each division will each claim a cash reward and a commemorative globus cruciger artifact. The first-place teams will also receive free admission to Lickity Split's Buzzard Gang-themed escape room. The cash prizes are provided by JBT.

Beyond the thrill of the chase, Buzzard's Booty serves a greater purpose: preserving Lancaster's history. A portion of the proceeds from every Treasure Diary sold will support a local nonprofit like the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County.

Participants may register and purchase a Treasure Diary - a guide containing historical information, puzzles, and clues leading to the lost treasure - at https://unchartedlancaster.com/buzzard.
