VFW, Auxiliary dedicate flagpole

The members of Hellam VFW Post 7045 and Auxiliary dedicated a flagpole in memory of the veterans in the Canadochly Cemetery. Jeff Reed, who has been charged with placing flags on the graves of veterans in the cemetery for the past 12 years, felt that the veterans should be honored with a flag and flagpole in recognition of their sacrifices for their country. In the oldest part of the cemetery, Reed has discovered headstones from the Revolutionary War, the Spanish-American War, the Civil War, World War I and World War II, as well as headstones dated 1812.

In addition to Reed, the project was carried out by June Brown, Marvin Henise, Jerry Kirich, Pat Reed, Carol Rienhold and Grace Sultzbach.
