Vietnam Round Table sets meeting

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet at the Vietnam Veterans of America Michael J. Novosel MOH Capital Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, on Thursday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Following a brief business meeting, Jim Meyers from Newberry Township, York County, will discuss his Vietnam experiences as a member of Lima Company/3rd Battalion/5th Marines 1st Marine Division.

Meyers graduated from Dallastown High School in 1968, then enlisted in the Marines. He served in Vietnam from June 28, 1969, through June 16, 1970.

For his service, he was awarded the Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

Following his service, he graduated from York College with a degree in business management. After college, he worked in management for six years and then worked as a UPS driver for more than 18 years.

Myers has been a mentor in Veterans Treatment Courts in York and Dauphin counties for eight years and has been attending group meetings for PTSD at the Vet Center in Harrisburg for 20 years. He is active with the Vietnam Round Table as its speaker chairman.
