Vietnam Round Table to meet

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet on Thursday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg.

Following a brief business meeting, Dave Binder from Allentown will discuss his Vietnam experiences as a member of the Brown Water Navy, along the coast of South Vietnam, where he served two tours of duty between September 1965 and June 1967.

Binder grew up in Allentown. After graduating from high school, he worked at a bank for a year, then enlisted in the Navy in November 1963. During his four years of active duty, he became a 2nd Class Petty Officer.

He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Civic Action Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Naval Service Medal.

Following his military service, he worked at Pennsylvania Power and Light until he retired in June 2013, with 45 and one-half years of service.

The meeting is open to the public, and donations will be accepted. All those interested in the history of the Vietnam War are invited to attend.
