Vietnam Round Table to meet

Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet on Thursday, July 13, at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Capital Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m. Following a brief business meeting, Harvey Bartash, from Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County, will discuss his two tours in Vietnam.

Prior to joining the Army, Bartash graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia and attended Temple University for three years. He served in Vietnam from August 1966 to August 1967 and again from August 1969 to August 1970, both times with the 525th Military Intelligence Group/519th Military Intelligence Battalion.

After his first tour, he went to Fort Devens, Mass., for two years to attend the Signal Intelligence Officers Course, teach Instructional Methods and command a training company. He eventually graduated from Officer Candidate School. After his second tour, he left active duty and joined the U.S. Army Reserves. He eventually finished his degree at Temple University. In 1977, he learned about Army Active Guard and Reserve Program and then completed 20 years of active federal service. Bartash received various medals and awards for his military service. In 1992, he took a job as a disabled veterans employment specialist.
