Volunteers participate in river cleanup

Dart Container, a provider of sustainable food service packaging solutions, recently announced its sponsorship of and participation in the Conestoga River Cleanup held on Aug. 12.

The event, held in partnership with the Conestoga River Club, witnessed the collective efforts of numerous volunteer partner organizations dedicated to preserving and maintaining the beauty of the Conestoga River, collecting nearly three-quarters of a dumpster full of trash along with 12 tires.

Dart Container, known for its commitment to social responsibility and sustainability, registered 24 volunteers who participated in this year's cleanup event, providing 72 hours of volunteer services. In total, around 40 volunteers took part in the cleanup, which covered the Conestoga River around West Earl Community Park and Sylvan B. Fisher Township Park in Brownstown.

The Conestoga River flows for more than 60 miles, joining the Susquehanna River below the Safe Harbor dam. The river is popular for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing and other recreational activities, underscoring the importance of keeping the waterway clean.
