VROCP Marks 100th Anniversary, Plans Events

March marked the 100th anniversary of Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania (VROCP). The nonprofit agency began as a member of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (PAB) for Dauphin County, and the area of responsibility expanded to include Cumberland, Perry, and Franklin counties.

Many members of the growing elderly population in Pennsylvania have been affected by the four major eye diseases: macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataract, and glaucoma. Need has increased for prevention specialists, case coordinators, the Eye Clinic, and low vision rehabilitation, which fulfill the VROCP mission to facilitate independence, enrich the quality of life, and empower individuals who are visually impaired or otherwise disabled through prevention, employment and educational awareness programs.

VROCP recently thanked everyone who has supported its commitment to the blind and visually impaired, and it expressed gratitude for the many relationships Vision Resources Business Services shares across the state. The businesses of VROCP generate the majority of the annual budget revenue necessary for maintaining its services and employs individuals with disabilities, providing employees with greater independence and quality of life.

The first event celebration for VROCP's 100th anniversary will take place Wednesday, May 19, with a dinner at Harmony Hall Estate, 1400 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown. A second celebration will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Linwood Estate in Carlisle.
