Wagman Tree Wins First Place At Spruce'd Up

The Wagman tree, adorned in red, white and blue honoring the nation's veterans, took first place during the 2021 "Spruce'd Up, A Celebration of Trees" event, held at PeoplesBank Park. Wagman conducted an online survey of nonprofits where employees selected For the Love of a Veteran as the benefitting nonprofit agency for the 2021 event.

As the first-place winner, For the Love of a Veteran received a $3,000 donation from Traditions Bank on Jan. 14 during the kickoff event for FestiveICE at Cherry Lane in downtown York. Brandon Hanson, a veteran with For the Love of a Veteran, accepted the donation from Wagman Spruce'd Up representatives Phillip Musselman, superintendent; Christina Brown, paralegal; Lisa Wagman Glezer, Wagman president; and Hans Abendschoen from Traditions Bank.

Wagman has worked with For the Love of a Veteran for years to collect supplies for holiday care packages and also direct care packages to employees' family members who are serving.

According to Glezer, the boots beneath the tree were from a soldier who served overseas and received a holiday care package from the company. In addition, Wagman invited visitors to share the name of a veteran on a star and then hang it on the tree.

Spruce'd Up is a free community event held on weekends during the holiday season that allows visitors to vote on their favorite decorated tree, sponsored by local businesses.

For the Love of a Veteran aims to create awareness for the needs of military families and veterans, including sending care packages, supporting families during deployments and helping in the fight against PTSD. For more information, visit http://www.fortheloveofaveteran.org.
