Ware Center posts First Friday activities

The Arts at Millersville University will hold its We the People First Friday on Sept. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

In the Lyet Lobby, Peace Kids to the Rescue will hold its sixth annual Art Show and Silent Auction. Artworks created by children ages 4 to 19 will be auctioned to raise funds for Church World Service and the Arch Street Center. The program aims to empower young people to use their creativity to help others in their communities.

In the Regitz Gallery, a reception will celebrate the opening of the exhibit "Flowers Need Time To Bloom" by artist Roohafza Emami. Born and raised in Afghanistan, Emami lost her husband and fled the country with her four children, resettling in Lancaster. Once helped by the Women's Global Village program, Emami returned as a leader to help a new group of refugee women. Emami finds healing through her art, especially painting. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, Sept. 27.

New this year, the Ware Center will be an official stop on the Lancaster Print Crawl, an interactive printing event that showcases the design and print communities in Lancaster. Participants may stop by the Ware Center during the First Friday event to build one of the components of their artisan poster.

All First Friday events are free and open to the public.
