Wayside Plans Midweek Family Program

Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, will offer Ignite, a program for children and youths ages 6 to 18 and their parents or caregivers. The activities are designed to support stronger family relationships and values, teach Bible stories, and provide a midweek break from home with a time of fellowship and fun. The program will run on consecutive Wednesdays from Jan. 18 through March 15, except for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Ignite will begin with intergenerational worship and music at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and activities by age group from 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. Children and youths will gather for age-appropriate lessons, games, crafts, and other activities while the adults will meet for a class titled "Parenting in a Post-Pandemic Season." Families will then reconnect for the Closing Circle.

The parenting class will be taught by Wayside's pastor, the Rev. Stephen P. Fritz. Using Scripture, classic texts on developmental and spiritual stages of life, and contemporary articles on the effects of the pandemic and social media on raising children in today's world, participants will be led in conversation. Practical applications toward less stressful and more balanced living will be discussed.

Fritz holds a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has led three congregations during his ordained ministry and has served Wayside Presbyterian Church for the last 22 years. He has been a husband for 43 years and is also the father of three and the grandfather of three.

There is no fee for the activities, but advance registration for participants in all age groups is required at http://www.waysidepc.org/ignite. Nursery care will be available during Ignite. All staff members and volunteers have clearances.

Each Sunday, Wayside offers a traditional worship service with a choir at 9:30 a.m. and contemporary worship with the church's praise band, Grace Notes, at 11 a.m. More information and registration is available by visiting http://www.waysidepc.org or by calling the office at 717-898-1551.
