WCR Center for the Arts posts season kickoff

The WCR Center for the Arts, 140 N. Fifth St., Reading, will kick off its 2023-24 season with "A Sizzling Night of Hot Jazz" on Thursday, Sept. 7. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

Attendees will learn about the WCR Center building and the nonprofit's history from local historian Rick Polityka beginning at 6:15 p.m., followed by dancing to music provided by the Hot Club of Reading at 7 p.m. Part 1920s New Orleans, part 1930s Paris, the Hot Club of Reading combines gypsy jazz with hot jazz. The group features Josh Taylor, Trey LaRue, Ken Gehret, Chris Heslop, and Adam Price.

The event will also honor the city of Reading's 275th anniversary and celebrate the WCR Center's newly accessible historic hall. Refreshments will be available.

Parking is available at the Trinity Lutheran Church lot, located on North Fifth Street between Washington and Walnut streets in downtown Reading.
