Weber to join PMEA Hall of Fame

Marie Weber, retired director of orchestras at Lower Dauphin, will be inducted into the 2024 Hall of Fame class of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) on Saturday, April 20, at 8:30 a.m. at the organization's annual conference awards breakfast at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie.

Weber was a string instructor and orchestra director at Lower Dauphin Middle School and Lower Dauphin High School for 35 years and also served as the district's music department coordinator. She continues to conduct the pit orchestra in the high school's annual spring musical.

She earned her bachelor's degree in music education and a Master of Music from West Chester University. Weber has performed as a violist in the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, the Hershey Symphony Orchestra, and the Central Pennsylvania Symphony, where she still serves as an assistant conductor. She also served as a conductor of the Harrisburg Junior Youth String Orchestra and string coach for the Harrisburg Youth Symphony.

Weber is a member of the board of PMEA District 7 and the Dauphin County Music Educators Association (DCMEA) and serves as the DCMEA representative to the PMEA District 7 executive board. She has earned numerous awards during her career in music education, including an honorary life membership to PMEA. She is a member of the Lower Dauphin Falcon Foundation board of directors and the board of the Central Pennsylvania Symphony.
