Webinar to focus on WalkWorks program

Lancaster County Planning will host a webinar screening on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at noon in the HR Training Room on the third floor of the Lancaster Government Building, 150 N. Queen St., Lancaster.

The webinar will share information about Pennsylvania WalkWorks, a program the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has been working on since 2013. The DOH has worked with various partners to improve public health outcomes with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase physical activity. Initially, the program focused on developing walking routes and groups, eventually including 100 routes established in municipalities across the state.

In the upcoming webinar, Justin Lehman, the DOH lead on the WalkWorks Program, and Sam Pearson from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, a current WalkWorks partner organization, will provide information and insights into the lessons learned over the more than 10 years of the program. The moderator will be Peter Wulfhorst, an educator with Penn State Extension. This webinar is part of the Penn State Extension Land Use Webinar series.
