Whippoorwill to mark 10th anniversary

Whippoorwill, a vendor inside Trellis Marketplace known for its curated selection of gift items, will hold a 10th anniversary celebration on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at Trellis Marketplace, 153 E. High St., Elizabethtown.

Founded in 2015 by veteran shopkeeper Susan Zeager, Whippoorwill was inspired by Zeager's time volunteering in a hospital gift shop. Originally a nurse, Zeager discovered her passion for retail during her time at the gift shop, leading her to open her own store in the square in downtown Elizabethtown.

When Whippoorwill first opened, Elizabethtown's downtown was marked by empty storefronts and offices. Through collaboration with local business owners, town leaders, the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Borough, efforts were made to improve the town's walkability and build a foundation for growth.

Over the past decade, Zeager has found the most rewarding part of running Whippoorwill to be the people she meets and the stories they share. Customers frequently compliment Whippoorwill's peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, as well as its one-of-a-kind items.

The anniversary celebration will feature free wine tastings, charcuterie stations, live chalk art by Lola Love Letter, door prizes from every vendor, and a hot chocolate bar with a variety of toppings.

There is no admission fee. For more details, call 717-343-9400 or email thewhippoorwillstore@gmail.com.
