Winters Heritage House receives grant

The Elizabethtown Preservation Associates Inc., doing business as Winters Heritage House Museum, announced that it has been awarded a grant sponsored in part by the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Eastern Region Program, coordinated by Waynesburg University, for its project "Elizabethtown History Comes to Life Through Virtual and On-site Programs."

The grant funds will be used to develop educational resources, programs, workshops and information using both the digitized collections from the Library of Congress and the Heritage House's physical and digital collections. The grant will also fund website development that will improve user function and accessibility, and provide lesson plans and supplemental educational activities, games and resources on the organization's website, http://www.elizabethtownhistory.org.

Winters Heritage House Museum plans to offer additional educational programming over the summer, launch the educational resources online by mid-fall and begin hosting professional development workshops for teachers and homeschool parents or guardians on-site at both the museum and the adjacent H.U. Coble House in January.

For more information, contact the museum at 717-367-4672 or visit the aforementioned website or http://www.facebook.com/WintersHeritageHouseMuseum.
