Women's Club Plans Meeting

The Millersville Woman's Club will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 N. George St., Millersville.

The guest speaker will be George March, who served with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) for 30 years and will speak on its history.

March worked in various patrol and criminal investigation positions, including as a lieutenant with Troop J in Lancaster. He served as the commander of the Law Enforcement Arts Section of the Bureau of Training and Education at the State Police Academy in Hershey and later as the director of the bureau's Program Development Division. Then, as a captain, he was the commanding officer of Troop K in Philadelphia before becoming a major and serving as the director of the PSP's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. March also served as the director of the Bureau of Emergency and Special Operations and as the department's emergency preparedness liaison officer to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

Upon appointment by Gov. Tom Ridge as deputy commissioner of staff of the PSP, March became responsible for the Bureau of Records and Identification Services; the Bureau of Research and Development; and the Bureau of Technical Services, which operates the commonwealth's central repository of criminal history record information and all department information technology systems.

March served as a member of the governor's Information Technology Leadership Group, as a member of the Commonwealth's Data Center Resource Consolidation Committee, and as a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's Automated Technology Advisory Committee. He also served as the first chair of the Pennsylvania Justice Network Steering Committee.
