Wood art by Zimmerman on display

Morton Fine Furniture, 61 E. Main St., Lititz, is showcasing wood sculptures by Lancaster County artist David Zimmerman.

Although most of the showroom is dedicated to displaying the handcrafted work of furniture maker Thomas Morton, it also features items from local and regional craftspeople and artists.

Zimmerman's wood sculptures have appeared in the home section of the New York Times and in the pages of House Beautiful and Brides Magazine, and he has claimed awards in juried competitions on the East Coast. He has been a featured artist for several decades at numerous galleries in Lancaster, showcasing his vessels, towers and other constructions, and his artworks may be found in private collections in Pennsylvania as well as in the permanent collection of the Lancaster Museum of Art and at commercial businesses.

Morton decided to feature Zimmerman's wood sculptures because of his longtime admiration of Zimmerman's ingenuity and skill.

Although Zimmerman has the background of a skilled woodworker and carpenter, he has found his niche in creating sculptures. His small wood shop is located on a farm just outside of Terre Hill.

Morton Fine Furniture also has been showing wooden vessels by Doug Reesor, a retired metallurgical engineer and an accomplished wood turner in Lancaster.

The Morton Fine Furniture showroom is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and by appointment on Mondays through Thursdays.
