World War II Roundtable Plans Meeting

The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable will hold its next monthly meeting online via Zoom on Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be author Stephen Fritz.

Fritz is a noted scholar specializing in 19th- and 20th-century European history, with a focus on 20th-century Germany. His presentation will be based on his book "Frontsoldaten: The German Soldier in World War II." Through letters, diaries, memoirs, and oral history, the book offers readers a detailed account of the everyday experiences of the common German soldier.

Fritz is a professor at East Tennessee State University, where he has been a faculty member of the department of history since 1984. His studies range from the liberal politics of the Weimar Republic in the late 1920s to the rise of Nazism. Fritz has published several other World War II-related books, including "The First Soldier: Hitler as Military Leader," "Ostkrieg: Hitler's War of Extermination in the East," and "Endkampf: Soldiers, Civilians, and the Death of the Third Reich."

The Zoom meeting is open to the public, and no registration is required. To attend, readers may visit http://www.centralpaww2roundtable.org.
