World War II Roundtable Sets Meeting

The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. The speaker, Penn State University professor Jared Frederick, will present a portrait of Lt. Ronald Speirs, who served with the famed "Band of Brothers" 101st Airborne, 506th PIR, under Maj. Dick Winters.

Frederick and Gettysburg historian Erik Dorr co-authored the book "Fierce Valor," which presents Speirs as an officer defined by boldness on the battlefield and the inherent costs of war. Frederick is the author of numerous other books, as well, including "Dispatches of D-Day" and "Hang Tough." He has been interviewed for programs appearing on PBS, C-SPAN, and Turner Classic Movies, and he hosts "Reel History" on YouTube.

The meeting is open to the public, and no registration is required. Additional information can be found at http://www.centralpaww2roundtable.org. The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable is a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for World War II veterans, authors, historians, and citizens to share their knowledge and experiences related to the war.
