WWII Roundtable Slates Meeting

The Central Pennsylvania World War II (WWII) Roundtable will meet on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. Military historian and professor Colin Colbourn will speak about Operation Hailstone, the U.S. Navy's assault on Truk Lagoon in February 1944, and the renewed effort to recover and repatriate the remains of U.S. service personnel who were lost during the battle.

Colbourn is the lead historian of Project Recover, a partnership of the University of Delaware and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Project Recover enlists 21st-century technology on a mission to locate and repatriate American military personnel who have gone missing during past conflicts.
