York Catholic Middle and High School, 601 E. Springettsbury Ave., has scheduled several events, including programs for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, whom the school refers to as futures. Numerous events are held throughout the year to invite the futures to the middle and high school campus to interact with current students.

A Futures Marching Band Camp will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for any fourth-, fifth-, or sixth-grade student who has played a band instrument for at least a year or who would be interested in color guard. Students will have the opportunity to play level-appropriate marching band music, as well as learn basic drill techniques and basic color guard techniques, with a little fun thrown in. A mini-show for parents will take place at 1:45 p.m.

Lunch, snack, a flipbook, a lyre, and sheet music will be provided. Students are asked to bring a refillable water bottle, comfortable sneakers, bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat, and they should wear comfortable clothing. The varsity cheerleaders will host a Futures Cheer Clinic for students in kindergarten through sixth grade on Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon in the gymnasium. The students will then showcase what they learned in a performance from 11:45 a.m. to noon.

Participants will learn cheers, chants, and a dance. Participants will have an opportunity to join the varsity squad on the sidelines at the York Catholic football game on Friday, Oct. 9.

There is a fee, with discounts for families that register two or three children. Registration and payment are due by Sept. 2 by contacting Heather Hoffman at hhoffman@yorkcatholic.org.

Students in grades one through six are also invited to Futures Games. Attendees may spend time with the varsity players and coaches, listen to the coaches' pre-game instructions, participate in team prayer, and pose with the team for a picture.

Futures Games will be held for cross-country on Tuesday,Sept. 8, at 4:30 p.m., with students asked to arrive by 4 p.m. behind the middle school; girls' volleyball on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., with requested arrival by 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium; boys' soccer on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m., with arrival by 6:30 p.m. in the stadium; girls' soccer on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m., with arrival by 6:30 p.m. in the stadium; football on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., with arrival by 6:15 p.m. in the stadium; cheerleading on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., with arrival by 6:45 p.m. in the stadium; and marching band on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., with arrival by 5:30 p.m. in the band room.

Admission is free for students. Registration is required at http://www.yorkcatholic.org/futures-events/. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

York Catholic has also announced that it will hold its 36th annual golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 14, at Regents' Glen Country Club, 1000 Golf Club Drive, York. Registration for the four-person scramble tournament will start at 8:30 a.m., with play beginning at 9 a.m.
