In addition, the York JCC unveiled a Holocaust Torah, number 1381, which was relocated from Temple Beth Israel to the York JCC. The book is one of the 1,564 Czech Memorial Sifre Torah and was part of a collection of treasures looted by the Nazis during World War II from desolated Jewish communities in Bohemia, Moravia, and Slovakia.

The Torah was acquired in 1991 from the Memorial Scrolls Trust in London and displayed inside Ohev Sholom, where it remained for one and a half decades before relocating to Temple Beth Israel. On Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, April 27, the Torah was relocated to the York JCC lobby so the Torah can have a greater presence in the entire York community.
