Youths Showcase Projects At 4-H Fair

The Dauphin County 4-H Fair took place recently at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Members came together to exhibit projects they had been working on for most of a year.

The 4-H Fair began on Aug. 11, with the Family Living, 4-H Opportunities, Pets, Small Animal, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goat, and Horse Grooming and Showmanship shows. Competitions and exhibits on Aug. 12 were the Horse Show, Rabbit and Cavy, Beef Showmanship, Dairy Beef Showmanship, Breeding Beef Judging and Market Steer Judging, followed by Small Animal, Family Living, and 4-H Opportunities Clover. The 4-H Fair ended on Aug. 12 with Sheep Showmanship, the Livestock Skillathon, Market/Meat Breeding Goat Showmanship, and Large Animal Clover.

The categories and their winners included the following: Family Living Senior Champion, Keegan Tilley, Harrisburg; Family Living Junior Champion, Miriam Astfalk, Hummelstown; Family Living Junior Reserve Champion, Scarlett Fisher, Harrisburg; 4-H Opportunities Senior Champion, Alexandria Neff, Harrisburg; 4-H Opportunities Senior Reserve Champion, Daphne Linn, Hummelstown; 4-H Opportunities Junior Champion, Felicity Astfalk, Hummelstown; and 4-H Opportunities Junior Reserve Champion, Ayden Verbos, Harrisburg.

Also, Large Animal Clover Senior Champion, Larissa Sweigard, Halifax; Large Animal Clover Senior Reserve Champion, Jaelyn Lewis, Hershey; Large Animal Clover Junior Champion, Dallan Dibble, Middletown; Large Animal Clover Junior Reserve Champion, Quinn Weinhold, Ephrata; Small Animal Senior Champion, Dakota Bush, Elizabethville; Small Animal Senior Reserve Champion, Chesney Romberger, Millersburg; Small Animal Junior Champion, Tenley Romberger, Millersburg; and Small Animal Junior Reserve Champion, Ayden Verbos, Harrisburg.

An array of other youth projects were also included in the event, such as expressive arts projects.
