Youths to advance in Hoop Shoot competition

The Columbia-Middletown Elks 1074 lodge hosted its annual Hoop Shoot on Nov. 5 in the gymnasium at Park Elementary. First-place winners Noah Boyer, Asher Detz, and Nick Boyer will advance to the district level. The District Hoop Shoot will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, at East Pennsboro High School, 425 W. Shady Lane, Enola, from 1 to 4 p.m. West Shore Elks lodge will host this event.

First-place winners from the District Hoop Shoot will advance to the 2024 Pennsylvania State Hoop Shoot, which will be held on Saturday, March 2. There is also a regional competition before Nationals, which will be held in Chicago from April 18 to 21. The Elks Hoop Shoot program, a free throw program for youths ages 8 to 13, has been in existence for 51 years.

The Columbia-Middletown Elks 1074 noted that parents and volunteers helped to make the Hoop Shoot possible.
