YWCA Adds Chief Equity Officer

YWCA Lancaster announced the selection of Adam Hosey to serve as the first chief equity officer in the agency's history. The role is key to supporting the growth of the Center for Racial and Gender Equity and the many requests for partnership, training, and support received by YWCA Lancaster. Hosey's responsibilities include leading a county-wide Racial Equity Profile in partnership with many local entities as well as oversight of the Center for Racial and Gender Equity.

Hosey moved to Lancaster seven years ago by way of Philadelphia and Delaware County. In addition to his previous work at YWCA Lancaster, he taught in a variety of educational settings for 10 years, where he focused on liberatory pedagogy and empowering students, most recently at the Harrisburg High School SciTech Campus.

The Center for Racial and Gender Equity is a mission-driven effort toward the goals of eliminating racism and empowering women. Home of the Racial Equity Institute, the Black Artist Waystation, the Dorothy Height Book Club, Reclaiming Our Time, and many other programs, the center continues to grow and adapt to meet community needs with focus and use of best practices.
