Bucks Take On Hempfield in District Opener

The Buckskin volleyball team capped their 9-6 season with a trip to the PIAA District III Tournament, bowing out after a first-round loss to Hempfield 3-0.

The showdown was held on May 20th at the fifth seeded Black Knight's court, with the Bucks challenging for an upset as the 12th seed. Though the contest went to Hempfield after three games (25-18, 25-14, 25-9), CV was led on offense by Sawyer Shertzer's 17 kills and one ace.

Dominic Brabant dished 25 assists, Kyle Hutchinson came up with six digs, and defensive duo Charles Janvrin and Jayden Rice each supplied a pair of blocks.

Shertzer was named to the L-L League first team all-star list, and teammates Brabant, Rice and Janvrin each received second team honors for their season long efforts.

TRACK

CV celebrated several standout performances at the PIAA District III Track Championships held at Shippensburg on May 22nd, featuring a third-place finish for the boys 4x400 relay team.

The foursome comprised of Josh Rennekamp, Owen Linder, Kyle Thrush, and Emmanuel Gitonga earned their medals while clocking a collective time of 3:37.59.

Thrush also earned an individual medal with a fifth-place time of 4:24.39 in the 1600 meter, and Gitonga raced his way to an individual seventh-place finish in the 800-meter race, registering a time of 2:00.78

Destiny Ellerbe represented the Lady Bucks with her shot put efforts and earned a sixth-place spot on the podium with her 35-6 throw.
