Ascension Academy, a division of Ascension Lutheran Church in Willow Street, has announced the inauguration of its Choral Internship Program. The internships are paid positions offered to high school students with the aim of encouraging and supporting young people interested in the art of sacred choral singing. The program also provides opportunities for rehearsal leadership and conducting. Students may opt to receive community service credits for honor roll and graduation projects in lieu of a stipend.

The choir meets on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and performs on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 E. Penn Grant Road. Positions are open in all sections: soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.

High school students with some choral singing experience and the desire to sing on a semiprofessional level are invited to apply. They will need to audition by singing a short song; one or two verses of a hymn is sufficient. Sightreading ability is not required.
