Condron Scores Four in Win Over Cedar Crest
The E-town field hockey team may not be living in a Charles Dickens novel, but their last two games had them experience the best of times and the worst of times none the less.
The best of times came on September 22nd with a 5-0 romp over Cedar Crest. Sydney Pope needed just two saves to earn her third shutout of the season. Mikaela Condran did the heavy lifting with four goals, three coming in the opening frame. Reagan Flory, who helped start that run by assisting on Condran's first goal, finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the fourth.
Elizabethtown found themselves on the opposite side of things on the 26th, falling to Manheim Central by a 4-1 count. Pope faced a barrage of shots and finished with 19 saves while Lyla Fair broke up the shutout by converting a Condran pass for a fourth quarter score
GIRLS' TENNIS
The girls' tennis team hit a rough patch with losses to Conestoga Valley and Manheim Central dropping the Lady Bears into third place in Section Two. E-town split up the two losses with a 7-0 win over Solanco on the 23rd but the 5-2 loss to CV and the 6-1 setback to Central still stung. Dasha Gencturk picked up the lone win against Central on the 26th and accounted for one of the two wins opposite CV on the 21st. Julia Laszakovits and Rebecca Mink posted the second team point again Conestoga Valley..
BOYS' SOCCER
The boys' soccer team kept themselves at the top of the L-L, moving to 9-2-1 with wins over Garden Spot and Ephrata running the Bears streak to eight straight games.
Head coach James Sostack pointed out keys to the 3-0 win over Spot, saying, "Executing set piece opportunities and solid defense played a major role in securing the victory."
Four Tyler Bell saves gave the senior keeper his fourth straight shutout while goals from Jason Stark and Xavier Giron provided the necessary cushion. Stark used a Tavon Schoenberger feed for a 1-0 lead before going solo to finish the scoring in the 50th minute. In between it was Emery Morgan setting up Giron's score.
The Bears were able to avenge one of their two losses on the 27th, slipping by Ephrata 1-0. Stark provided the setup for Hayden Flory's goal in the 15th minute while five Bell saves secured the payback win.

The Bears returned to L-L action on the 27th where the Lady Bears topped both Cocalico and Lampeter-Strasburg while the boy's managed a split with a win over Cocalico offsetting a loss to the Pioneers.
