Dyer, Bruner Recognized

Lana Dyer and Elly Bruner, seniors at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, were selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club's Students of the Month for November. They were presented to the club by Ben Feeney, principal of Lampeter-Strasburg High School. Students of the Month are selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.

Lana is the daughter of Steve and Tamara Dyer of Lancaster. Lana has earned honor roll recognition and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is president of the Drama Club, vice president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, a president of concert choir, and a member of concert band, full orchestra, marching band, and Madrigals. She has participated in the fall plays and spring musicals and is a Link Crew leader.

Lana was the 2022 Vocal Music Burrowes Scholar. She was selected for the 2022-23 Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association County Chorus, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association 2021 District Chorus and 2022 Regional Chorus. Lana has submitted both writing and photographs to the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition and has received one National Silver Medal and several Gold Keys and honorable mentions. Since seventh grade, Lana has received recognition for photographs she has submitted in the yearly photography contest held by the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen and Conservationists (PFSC).

In the community, Lana was named the 2022 Lampeter Fair queen alternate, the 2022 Lampeter-Strasburg Representative at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards event, and the 2021 Lampeter-Strasburg Representative for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership event. She also participates in numerous community theater performances with Servant Stage Company. Following graduation, Lana plans to attend college.

Elly is the daughter of Keith and Gemma Bruner of Lancaster. Elly is the senior class secretary, the Fellowship of Christian Students president, a Lampeter Fair queen semifinalist, the Lampeter-Strasburg High School homecoming queen, a Link Crew leader, and a color guard representative. She is a member of the L-S Thespian Society, the fall play and spring musical casts, and the indoor and outdoor track teams. Elly was a 2019 Burrowes Scholar recipient and DAR award finalist. Outside of school, Elly attends the Willow Street Mennonite Church youth group and teaches prekindergarten and first-grade Sunday school. Following graduation, Elly plans to attend Grove City College to study education. She aspires to teach fourth grade and coach middle school track.
