Heritage Sunday planned at Boehm's UMC
The Boehm's Chapel Society will hold its annual Heritage Sunday event on June 25 in historic Boehm's Chapel at Boehm's United Methodist Church (UMC), 13 W. Boehms Road, Willow Street. A society business meeting will be held at 3 p.m., followed by the worship service at 4 p.m.
The event is one in which many descendants of Martin Boehm, who gave early Methodist circuit riders a place to say, and whose home was a meeting place for early Methodists, an opportunity to return to the chapel, which has stood since 1791.
Dale Mylin, a society board member and a member of Byerland Mennonite Church, where Martin Boehm was pastor and bishop, will present a message titled "Keeping Your Hand to the Plow: On Being an Influencer." Mylin is a ninth-generation descendant of Martin Meylin, an early county settler.
Music will be provided by soloist and keyboard player Oksana Reedy, music director at Boehm's UMC, and violinist Tammy Ober.
Following the worship service, Jeff and Sue Frey, who own the nearby Boehm family homestead, will offer a hayride to the farm.
Boehm's Chapel is located south of Willow Street, off Route 272.
