LCAA Posts Art Exhibits

The Lancaster County Art Association (LCAA), 149 Precision Ave., Strasburg, is holding its annual Garden Art Show in the Kauffman Gallery. The artwork features signs of spring and all things garden related.

Award-winning artwork was selected from three categories by judge Greta M. Rymar, who serves as exhibitions and collections coordinator for both the Demuth Museum and Lancaster Museum of Art.

In the Professional division, first place went to Karen Mincarelli for her acrylic painting "Double Dutch." Second place was awarded to Cecelia Cox for her oil painting titled "Sweet Morning," and Brenda Blank won third place for her watercolor "Coneflower Magnified." Honorable mentions went to Jim McElroy for his acrylic on paper "No Crops This Year" and Carolann Van Wyen for her watercolor "Autumn's Crown of Gold."

In the Non-Professional category, Jerry Brown won first place for his watercolor "One Four February Light," and second place was awarded to Debbie Huff for her pastel "The Last Rose." The third-place award winner was Christine Kirk for her colorful paper work titled "Sweet Perennial."

The Ann T. Fields Annual Awards for Excellence in Watercolor were presented at the reception held on Feb. 21. Winners of these accolades were Marita Hines, first place, for her watercolor "Pond Frolic"; Lisa Prinzo, second place, for her watercolor "Daisy Bouquet"; and Carol H. Dale, third place, for her watercolor on Yupo paper titled "Garden Party."

In addition to the Garden Art Show, artwork by the Ladies Art Forum (LAF) is on display in the Steinmetz Gallery. Artists are showing works in a variety of mediums and subject matter. LAF is a group of woman artists who meet monthly to network and critique their artwork. This group provides an opportunity to solve problems related to artworks in process and receive feedback from a variety of voices. Woman artists are invited to attend.

Both shows will continue through Thursday, March 18. LCAA's galleries are open to visitors on Thursdays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

LCAA is a nonprofit organization that welcomes new members throughout the year. Information about classes is available at http://www.LCAAonline.org. To register or for more details, readers may contact lcaanews@yahoo.com or call 717-687-7061.
