The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will be at the library to accept donations of books on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 27, from noon to 4 p.m.

SummerQuest will end on Sunday, Aug. 16. This is the last day to log reading minutes and complete GOYork! Hikes. The last day to pick up prizes is Saturday, Aug. 22.

There will be no Baby and Toddler Story Time or Preschool Story Times in August. The fall session will begin in September.

Kindermusik by Songbird Studios, for children birth to age 3, will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children will explore movement and language skills through dance, creative movement, echo songs, and more. Reservations are required, and space is limited.

Meet Penelope Rex will take place on Friday, Aug. 7, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The library will receive a visit from the tyrannosaurus rex Penelope Rex, the main character from the series of the same name by Ryan T. Higgins. The program is open to people of all ages.

Leap into Science: Wild World, for kids ages 6 to 11, will be held on Aug. 4 from 2 to 3 p.m. The program will share information about animals and how people can help protect them and their habitats. Registration is required.

Library Tales for Tails will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for kids ages 6 to 11. Kids may read to certified therapy dogs Jager and Dillon from Reading Education Assistance Dogs, and they may also pet and hug the dogs. Participants may sign up for a 10-minute time slot when they arrive.

Builder's Club, for kids ages 6 to 12, will be held on Aug. 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The library will provide Lego bricks, Keva Planks, K'nex, Lincoln Logs, and Magnatiles.

The Danger Club, for tweens ages 9 to 11, will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 11, for a hike and mystery activity at Camp Security Park. The hike will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and will count toward the Get Outdoors (GO) York! program. Parents and caregivers must stay with their children. Siblings are welcome to attend. In the case of inclement weather, call the library for updates.

The Library Squad, for people ages 9 to 18, will gather on Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will help to create and implement library programming for their age group.

Manga Book Club, for youths ages 12 to 18, will meet on Aug. 15 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This program will occur after the library is closed to the public. Only teens attending this program will be allowed inside.

Stitch and Chat groups, for knitters and crocheters, will meet on Thursdays, Aug. 6 and 20, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and Wednesdays, Aug. 12 and 26, from noon to 1:45 p.m.

The Treat Your Shelf Book Club, for adults, will meet on Aug. 6 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Attendees may read, enjoy snacks, and discuss books.

The Green Thumb Garden Club will meet on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Melanie Markowski will share "Is There a Hydangea for You?"

York Chess Club, for people of all ages, will be held on Aug. 4, 11, and 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Death Cafe Book Club will meet on Aug. 11 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Attendees will discuss "The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry" by Gabrielle Zevin. The program is for people struggling with loss. Registration is required, and copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.
