Preschool holds fun run, opens registration

Lampeter Community Preschool held its annual Lampeter Littles Fun Run fundraising event on March 8 and 9. The event was coordinated by preschool teacher Kim Calderwood and preschool parent Angie Renaldo. Parents assisted the fundraising committee in setting up the obstacle course and were invited to attend their child's run.

After exceeding the school fundraising goal of $5,000, students completed a fun run obstacle course through climbing structures, a balloon forest, a ball pit, and more. The course concluded with a bounce house, a favorite activity for the children. Local vendors donated giveaway drawing prizes from Cherry Crest Adventure Farm, Go 'N Bananas Family Fun Center, Hands-on House, Lancaster Science Factory, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, Tiny Town, and Urban Air Adventure and Trampoline Park. Wegmans Food Markets donated pizza for a celebration pizza party for the children.

Lampeter Community Preschool is located at Lampeter Church of the Brethren, 1900 Lampeter Road, Lampeter. Registration is open for the 2023-24 preschool year. The preschool offers a class two days per week for 2-year-olds on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11:15 a.m., as well as a class for 3- and 4-year-olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The Pre-K 1 classes, geared toward 4- and 5-year-olds completing a prekindergarten class for the first time, meet three days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The school also offers a Pre-K 2 class that meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children who have previously completed a prekindergarten program but are waiting to enter kindergarten; this class may be particularly suitable for children with birthdays later in the school year or in the summer, allowing more time for kindergarten readiness. All classes are taught by experienced, certified education professionals.

The Lampeter Community Preschool seeks to provide a caring Christian environment in which children can adjust to being away from home, grow socially and academically, and develop an enthusiasm for learning.
