Student-Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent
Two Conestoga Valley High School senior student-athletes will continue their playing careers at the collegiate level after signing National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Lillian Buckwalter has committed to playing field hockey at Division I University of Maryland, and Delainey Varela-Keen will play soccer at Division I University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Buckwalter, the daughter of Matt and Kelly, has been a four-year varsity starter on the Buckskins' field hockey team and served as team captain this fall. Buckwalter is a three-time Lancaster-Lebanon (L-L) League All-Star, including a First-Team selection in 2021; was named the Rookie of the Year in 2018; and was a member of the 2019 Section I co-champion team. A midfielder, she plays club field hockey with X Caliber. That team was the 2020-21 National Indoor champion, a 2021 National Club Championship qualifier, and the 2021 Junior Premier Hockey (JPL) runner-up.
Off the field, Buckwalter is a distinguished honor roll student and a member of National Honor Society. She is also active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), and she is a 2022 class officer.

She was a Section I First Team All-Star, and her squad was a league finalist in 2019. Varela-Keen, a defensive midfielder, plays club soccer with Keystone FC 03 G Premier, which is the 2018 and 2021 regional champion and a 2021 national semifinalist.
During her four years at Conestoga Valley, Varela-Keen has been involved with Student Council, serving as vice president in 2021; Science National Honor Society; National Honor Society; Student Health Council; SADD; POWER Club; Women's Liberation Alliance (WLA); Shop With a Buckskin; and Peace to Kids Rescue Art Auction.
